Mental Health Services for Homeless Persons, Inc. (MHS) is a leading provider of mental health and supportive services for vulnerable populations of the city of Cleveland, and Cuyahoga County, Ohio, USA. Now in our 23rd year, we are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing services at 13 sites with a staff of 220 and the efficient use of more than $15 million in revenues. Last year, 4,463 homeless adults and children participated in our homeless assistance services, and 11,413 children and adults took part in our crisis and trauma intervention services. MHS is certified by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services. MHS is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and The American Association of Suicidology. Outcome data demonstrate that MHS programs help clients achieve housing, recovery, and self-determination. |
A Special Appeal
Substantial funding cutbacks from local and state governments hurt those we serve. Our capacity to provide a prompt response to those in crisis has been diminished. Our ability to provide vital health and supportive services for homeless adults and children has been degraded.
Please help MHS serve those who have so many vulnerabilities and so few resources. Click the "Donate Now" button below to donate through the secure website of the Network for Good. See this page for other options. Thank you.

Homeless adults with disabling mental or physical conditions achieve housing, mental health recovery, and self-determination through their participation in outreach, shelter, psychiatric, and supportive services. Seventeen programs provide homeless persons who have disabilities with the most comprehensive scope of care of any agency in Ohio, promoting sustained recovery, independence, and community participation. |

Children and adults whose safety and health are threatened by mental illness or overwhelming stressors call our 24/7 Suicide Hotline. Our Mobile Crisis Team helps them achieve safe resolution of their crisis situations. MHS has provided 24/7 crisis assessment and intervention services throughout Cuyahoga County, Ohio, without interruption, since 1995. These services formed the basis for the nation's first scientific demonstration of the effectiveness of mobile crisis outreach. For help, call 216-623-6888. TTY/TDD: 216-623-6540 |
Susan Neth became the Executive Director in December 2008. She joined MHS in 1988 as a case manager, and has served in an extraordinary range of leadership roles. With a Master's degree in Organizational Development, she has led the agency's achievement of many critical initiatives. |

MHS was founded in 1988 to serve severely mentally-disabled, homeless adults. While retaining our original name, we now provide diverse interventions addressing critical community needs, as a contract agency of the Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services Board of Cuyahoga County, and a partner agency of United Way of Greater Cleveland. |
