Donating your vehicle is simple. Read how, below.

Charitable Vehicle Donation

Donate your car or truck to help MHS fulfill its mission.

When you donate your car to MHS, the proceeds from the car's sale helps children in crisis, and homeless people who have disabling conditions.

When you decide to retire your vehicle from service, please consider donating it to MHS. Your donation will help MHS fulfill its mission, and you may be eligible to deduct the actual sale price of the vehicle from your federal income taxes.

Susan Neth, our Executive Director, has established a relationship of MHS with the Greater Cleveland Auto Auction, which has been in business for 46 years, and is a member of the National Auto Association. When you donate your vehicle to MHS, GCAA will come to your home or business, and drive or tow your vehicle to the auction site at 5801 Engle Road, in Cleveland, Ohio. Your vehicle will be inspected, and minor repairs may be done to increase its market value. The vehicle will then be auctioned. Auctions are held Fridays at 10:00 a.m. MHS receives all proceeds from the sale, minus towing and repair fees that are capped at $100.

You will then receive from MHS written notification of the actual sale price. If your vehicle was sold for less than $500, and the Kelly Blue Book value is more than $500.00, the IRS allows you to claim the $500.00 deduction. There are limits to charitable donations, so please check with your tax advisor to determine if you may claim a deduction, and its amount.

When you're ready, just complete the Vehicle Donation Information Form. The form is a Microsoft Word document. Just save the form on your computer, fill in the requested information, and return it to Susan Neth, Executive Director, by mail, fax, or eMail. She will contact you and make all the arrangements. That’s all there is to it!
